MM-001: Chicken Foot Anyone?

Salams peeps,

Nope I’m not talking about food today. It does sounds like some Asian dish. But it’s not. I’m talking about the Super Band. Yes the super band named Chicken Foot. Funny name huh?!

But I assure you, their music simply shows what you get when you have the best doing what they do best. Now I have always been a fan of the Rock & Blues. I grew-up in the 70’s listening to Elvis Presley and any Blues or Rock N Roll album I can get my hands on. By the time I was 12, I was already wearing out all my favorite band tapes. Some of you may remember the cassette player. That was what we had to figure songs out, and constant rewinding and playing wears out the tape in no time. Especially if it was a counterfeit tape. Again that was what we had and that was what we could afford.

I started my journey into hard rock with the Scorpions and quickly jumped to Black Sabbath and Rainbow. The time when most rockers were into Iron Maiden, I literally when back in time and started to wear tapes down from Bad Co, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Sabbath and obviously lead me to became a Die Hard Fan of Ronnie James Dio. Yup, the legendary Dio’s 1st album – Holy Diver. Man the man could really sing. And he left us this year just after my dearest mother. Sigh so many deaths in the family this year. Forgive me, I digress.

Back to Chicken Foot. I dare to call them a Super Group. What would you call a band with such a line-up? :-

  • Vocals = Sammy Hagar – The golden voice behind Van Halen  for quite a number of years.
  • Bass = Michael Anthony – The bass man for Van Halen.
  • Guitar = Joe Satriani – The Grand Master, The Sifu to Steve Vai and many other successful guitarist.
  • Drums = Chad Smith – The beat man behind Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
  • Super Bands

I have always wondered what kindda music would it be like when you put the best musicians and talent together. Well, I wonder no more and for my 1st Music Monday, I present to you…

If I were a healer, I’d use my hands
I’d put a spell on you if I were a magic man
If I were Jesus, Buddha or a king
If I were a bluesman, oh Lord, I could sing

About how I wanna be your hoochie coochie man
You got me eatin’ out of your hand

    (Oh yeah)
Come on baby, tell me what you want
    (Oh yeah)
Come on baby, tell me what you need
    (Oh yeah)
There ain’t nothin’ I wouldn’t do for you
    Oh yeah

When I was a young man, I, I slept around
When I turned 30, tried to settle down
To be your doctor, preacher, teacher, that’s the truth, hey
Operatin’ on my knees, my soul is waterproof

I just wanna be your hoochie coochie man
And get you eatin’ out of my hand

    (Oh yeah) Wooh
Now, come on baby, tell me what you want
    (Oh yeah)
Come on baby, tell me what you need
    (Oh yeah)
    Ain’t nothin’ I wouldn’t do for you
    Oh yeah

    Ooh, baby
    Ooh, baby
    Woah, yeah, uh

    Oh baby
    Ooh, yeah
    Well, well, well

If I were a potter, I’d make you real
I’d mold and touch you on my spinning wheel

    (Oh yeah)
Yeah, come on baby, tell me what you want
    (Oh yeah)
Come on baby, tell me what you need
    (Oh yeah)
Tell me what I can do for you
    Oh yeah

    Said (Oh yeah)
Come on baby, tell me what you want
    (Oh yeah)
Come on baby, tell me what you need
    (Oh yeah)
I’d do anything fo you, oh
    Oh yeah
    Oh yeah

I humbly salute these guys. If you’re like me, go and get them. It’s a keeper. Long live Rock N Roll!
