There are a few places in K.L to go to when a guitarist needs some professional work done on his guitar. The place that I go to is simply called The Guitar Hospital. Located fifteen minutes away from K.L, tucked in a quite shop house is where Ray C. and his team work on almost any stringed instruments. Among the services offered are:

  • Body and neck refurbishment
  • Pickups installation
  • Strings intonation
  • Strings height action adjustment
  • Refretting
  • Painting and custom graphics
  • Custom made guitars

Palmer Guitars

Lately I’ve had quite a number of visitors landing here looking for Palmer Acoustic Guitar. I know that there’s not much of information online with regards to Palmer Guitars. I found a lot of questions online but not really good answers. Maybe this is because there is no Palmer Guitar Company. When manufacturers and suppliers enter into a contract to build to specifications, the name goes on the instrument. Palmers are manufactured in this manner to high quality standards with quality components. So, I thought I’d just post about my own Palmer Acoustic guitar and my experience with it. I bought this guitar somewhere late 1999 in Singapore to replace the one that I had since I was 13. This baby has been places and she’s beat up pretty badly. Still playable but needs new fret-wires and a thorough restoration job. After 30 years, it’s nice to have a new one.

My old guitar, coming to 30 Years Old. Please excuse the young cat as he insisted in checking out the hole..

The replacement was this guitar. The Palmer GDB660. It’s actually a gift from the love of my life, my wife. It also caught my eyes as it was an ovation clone. It wasn’t really that expensive and was a display-test guitar. I don’t mind cheap guitars as long as the quality is decent enough. Nice finishing, no sharp edges, no warp or bend necks and cheap or decently priced, I’ll go for it. After all, in music it is never the instrument but the musician. The instrument is just an extension to the players soul. And after noodling on it a while, I bought it or rather my wife Love ya babe!

If My Pockets Ran Deep

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

A blogger friend, Bella had an interesting post titled “If I have a lot of money..”

What do you think a young gal would do if she has lots of money? Shop till they drop? LOL!
Well to my surprise, this girl has quite a taste for superwheels instead.  She list down 11 top supercars of the world. And her post actually got me to write this.

I dont know any dude that wouldn’t go GA-GA over supercars. Myself included, but I’m more of a “Hot-Rod” or “Overhaulin'” kindda guy. If my pockets ran really deep, all my rides will be tweaked and pimped haha!

Aww….Isn’t that a sight for sore eyes

Hey you guys remember the old Mercedez Benz Mini Buses we use to have on the roads? Wouldn’t it be cool to Hot-Rod it! I mean really tweak it. It can fit a lorry’s engine. Big engine and a small body. Who-ho-ho..she’s gonaa do 200.

A Lame Attempt At Tweaking My Dream MiniBus

To top the icing, turn it into a Mini RV. Remove all the passenger seat and you’ll have lot’s of room in there. Throw in the all goodies ~ A flat Tv, shower, bunk-beds, wireless internet and a small kitchen and we’re good to go. I’m so gonna take a trip all the way up to china hehe. Well that’s only happening if my pockets ran really deep.

In the meantime I’ll  be just as happy if my pockets ran just deep enough for me to add a custom guitar to my collection. I already have a few but not a “custom guitar” made to my liking. I’ve seen a few friends who have them. They’re a fine piece of equipment. And to my surprise they’re not that expensive. Not that expensive if you compare them to the Big names. (more…)
