Puasa-Fasting

It’s the third week into Ramadhan. A hot Ramdhan this year! Actually as far as I can remember, it has always been hot during Ramadhan in Malaysia. But somehow I felt this year was a little bit more hotter than previous years. I don’t know, maybe the thirst of fasting got to me lol!. Anyway, fasting has always been easy for me as I am not a big eater anyway. But thirst has always been the challenge, especially the first few days. But usually by the second week into the exercise, most of us are used to it. We are lighter and fresher as the body detoxify :)

The extra heat this year got me into thinking maybe I should get a small fridge for the home study. It’ll be nice to have a cold one within reach. And guess what I found? A cool Marshall Fridge!  Yup Marshall as in Marshall the guitar amplifier (more…)

Yamaha THR-10 Guitar Amplifier

Line6-Spider-IV-Guitar-AmplifierWhen the first POD Line 6 came out many years ago, it was the buzz in the guitarist community. An “amplifier modeling” unit which digitally simulates guitar amplifiers and cabinet models. It was very impressive than but I somehow felt that it had room to improve on. And back than it wasn’t even  available in Malaysia.

Today Line 6 products have improved many folds and last year I got myself the Spider IV 30 Watt. For a home user like me it serves me more than enough. It’s fun, it’s LOUD and no more messy patch cables to run through all the stomp-boxes that I usually use.

But after messing on it for about 3 months, I started to miss the “tube sound” and some sounds that I got from certain stomp-boxes. And almost all of the Line 6 amps won’t play nicely with stompboxes or other multi-effects for that matter. It’s just a stomp-box killer!

Marshall Valvestate 8080

I still have my old trusty Marshall Valvestate 8080 with me that I can run through all of my stomp-boxes and multi-effects smoothly. But than the Marshall “tube” had to be replace too as it’s almost 20 years old and is starting to loose clarity and volume output. Come to think of it, that was one of the reasons that (more…)

Fender Premium Audio System

Saturday, December 18th, 2010

I must say that musicosphere.com has been a favorite site to browse through since I stumbled it. So many great articles on guitars prersented in a simple straight forward manner on a nice clean layout. Worth bookmarking!  Furthermore the dude publishes it in French and English. I am humbly impressed by his efforts. Salutes man!

By commenting on his latest post, I thought I might just as well write it here too. Interesting development over at Fender. As the result of partnership between Fender and Panasonic, a new car audio system is expected to grace the interior of future Volkswagen models (Jetta GLI, Beetle,…), and it’s called the Fender Premium Audio System.

More info @ Fender

First reaction, I was like…hang on! A what? A car audio system? Hmmm.. and yes, it really is a car audio system. Man… of course more questions are playing in my head. Read more here.

In my humble opinion, it is just a Panasonic product with a Fender Logo. Not to belittle Panasonic in anyway as they do have an impressive range of products too and this Premium Audio System may yet be able to deliver what it claims.

However as a guitarist, I’d say wouldn’t it really be cool if it was actually a full tube amplification system with modeling capabilities lol!

Dream Ride

Wouldn’t it be cool to have it on your dashboard?
